Orientational dichroism in the (e,2e) reaction on the laser-oriented sodium atoms A.S. Kheifets$^\star$ and I. In contrast to earlier calculations$^{1,2}$ no account is taken of the interelectron interaction in the two-electron continuum. However, both the projectile and the ejected electron are distorted by the atomic (ionic) core. Good agreement is found with experiment at incident energies of 150 and 90~eV
