ELECTRON IMPACT EXCITATION OF THE 4s-4p TRANSITION IN Zn II O.I. Zatsarinny and L.A. Bandurina Institute of Electron Physics, Uzhgorod 294016, Ukraine (zoi@iep.uzhgorod.ua) The electron-impact excitation cross sections for Zn II have been calculated with R-matrix method in a 15-state close-coupling approximation. The emphasis has been made for accurate representation of core-valence correlation in target by using the extensive many-configurational wave functions. Comparison with available experimental and theoretical data as well as detailed analysis of near-threshold resonance structure are presented.
