LOW ENERGY ELECTRON EMISSION IN INTERMEDIATE VELOCITY ION ATOM COLLISIONS A. L. Landers, C. L. Cocke, M. J. Singh Department of Physics, Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas 66506 Low energy continuum electrons from He produced by singly ionizing collisions with bare projectiles of various velocities (6 - 14 a.u.) and charge states (1 - 9) have been measured. Emphasis is placed on the two-body momentum exchange between each pair of reactants. The longitudinal momentum exchange is restricted by small scattering angle kinematics and is well reproduced by theory. The transverse momentum exchange, however, exhibits startling trends as projectile parameters are varied.
