An all-permanent magnet 10~GHz ECR ion source has been constructed and
tested with respect to the production of multiply charged ions from both
gaseous and metallic elements. For the metal ion production the
insertion technique was used as well as an evaporation oven. The ion
source turned out to deliver extremely stable ion beams with an
excellent reproducibility. The first results will be shown at the
conference.
