Cross sections for photon-induced population of Ar+-4p satellites with
different L and J were measured in the threshold energy range where
strong resonance enhancement is observed. Photon-induced fluorescence
spectroscopy (PIFS) was used. Our technique yields also the alignment
parameter. Spin-orbit effects are identified from cross section ratios
for the fine structure components and from the comparison of magnetic
substate cross sections.
