Recent measurements for elastic and inelastic scattering from neon in the x-ray regime indicate a need to go
beyond the currently available predictions for these processes. By producing composite predictions better
agreement with experimental results is achieved. The validity of commonly used simpler approximations such as
the form factor for Rayleigh scattering and the impulse approximation for Compton scattering is also examined.
