AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE DEPENDENCE OF ELASTIC PHOTON-ATOM SCATTERING 
                           ON TARGET POLARIZATION AND ENERGY RESOLUTION

We consider the case of elastic photon scattering from atoms, and attempt to go beyond the level of
description used in  currently available results, to include features connected with scattering from 
non s-state targets and consequences for the partition between elastic and inelastic processes
connected with finite energy resolution for the detected photons.
