Doubly differential cross sections in K$^{+}$-Ne collisions have been
measured at laboratory energies 500≦E$_{lab}$≦2000 eV by means of
differential energy-transfer spectroscopy, and ab initio potentials
have also been calculated. Information on the excitation mechanisms
in the collisions has been obtained from analyses of the experiments
and the calculations.
