DISSOCIATIVE ATTACHMECHMENT OF ELECTRON TO HOT DIATOMIC MOLECULES: HCl, H2 Martin Cizek (1), Jiri Horacek (1), Wolfgang Domcke (2) (1) Department of Theoretical Physics, Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic; (2) Institute of Theoretical Chemistry, Heinrich Heine University, Duesseldorf, Germany Nonlocal resonance model has been used to calculate cross sections for dissociative attachment of electrons to ro-vibrationally excited H2 and HCl molecules. Cross sections for individual ro-vibrational states were averaged over thermal distribution of the states and compared with experiments. Excellent agreement was found between the measurements and the theory, but for the temperature ~25% higher than reported in the experiment.
