FINAL STATE CORRELATION IN ELECTRON IONIZATION OF HEAVY ATOMS B. Polis and D.H. Madison University of Missouri-Rolla, Rolla, Missouri, USA For electron-atom ionization (e,2e), the importance of the final state electron-electron interaction has been well established for ionization of hydrogen. To properly include this effect, the final state wavefunction must include the Coulomb interaction between the two outgoing electrons. We report here the first distorted wave calculation for ionization of heavy atoms which contains the Coulomb distortion factor and which asymptotically is a proper solution of the three body problem.
