ABSOLUTE EMISSION CROSS SECTIONS OF THE PASCHEN-a LINE AND PRODUCTION 
DYNAMICS OF THE 4f  STATE OF THE EXCITED HYDROGEN ATOM IN e-H2 COLLISIONS

Absolute emission cross sections of the Paschen-a line from H atoms produced
in e-H2 collisions and the formation cross section ratios of the 4s, 4p,
4d　and 4f atoms have been determined. The 4f atom had appreciable cross
sections at electron energies below 24 eV and was produced mainly from the
singly-excited Rydberg states of H2.
