COUPLED-CHANNEL EIKONAL APPROACH TO ELECTRON CAPTURE

We develop a new close-coulping scheme based on eikonal-distorted-wave
expansion. The convergence of the basis expansion is drastically improved
at intermediate and high energies and  the electron capture cross sections of 
proton from atomic hydrogen agree  well with elaborate large scale 
close-coupling calculations even within a two-state approximation.
