COUPLED-CHANNEL EIKONAL APPROACH TO ELECTRON CAPTURE N. Toshima, T. Nakagawa and K. Hino Institute of Applied Physics, University of Tsukuba, Tsukuba, Ibaraki 305-8573, Japan We develop a new close-coulping scheme based on eikonal-distorted-wave expansion. The convergence of the basis expansion is drastically improved at intermediate and high energies and the electron capture cross sections of proton from atomic hydrogen agree well with elaborate large scale close-coupling calculations even within a two-state approximation.
