CHARGE TRANSFER OF GROUND STATE He+ IONS IN COLLISIONS WITH H2, N2, AND VARIOUS CARBON-CONTAINING MOLECULES IN keV ENERGY REGION Y. Nakai, T. Kusakabe*, H. Tawara# and M. Sasao# Atomic Energy Research Institute, Kinki University, Higashi-Osaka, Osaka, Japan *Department of Nuclear Engineering, Kinki University, Higashi-Osaka, Osaka, Japan #National Institute for Fusion Science, Toki, Gifu, Japan We have measured the charge transfer cross sections of the ground state He+ions in collisions with H2, N2, CO, CO2, CH4, C2H6 and C3H8 in the energy range between 0.2 and 4 keV. Because all the present collisions for the ground state - ground state transition are exoergic and have large energy defects, the charge transfer accompanying dissociation of target molecules is expected to be dominant at low energies.
