MULTIFRAGMENTATION OF C CLUSTERS FOLLOWING ELECTRONIC EXCITATION INDUCED BY HIGH VELOCITY ATOMIC IMPACT R.Foss=E9*, M.Chabot**, K.Wohrer*, D.Gard=E8s**, C.Champion* * G.P.S., Universit=E9s Paris 7-Paris 6, CNRS UMR 75-88, 2 place Jussieu, 75251 Paris cedex 05, France ** Institut de Physique Nucl=E9aire, IN2P3, CNRS, 91406 Orsay cedex, France Fragmentation of excited C clusters following electronic excitation by a 2.6 a.u helium atom has been studied. It is found that for n=3D3,4,5 the fragmentation into three fragments is the dominant dissociative process whereas fragmentation into four pieces or more is also large for n=3D4,5.
