A theoretical study of the photoionization of the excited
$1s^22s2p~^{1,3}P$ states of atomic
Be has been carried out using the variational R-matrix method. With many
interesting properties
of resonance series, the calculated results show that the cross section
for $^3P$ state is much
larger than that for $^1P$ state.
