A MANY-BODY CLASSICAL TRAJECTORY MONTE CARLO METHOD FOR THE STUDY OF ION-SURFACE COLLISIONS J.A. PEREZ and R.E. OLSON University of Missouri - Rolla, Rolla, MO 65409-0640 We have developed a classical trajectory Monte Carlo code for use in the study of collisions between highly charged ions and multiple target systems. We have used this code to simulate a collision between a highly charged ion and a configuration of atoms initialized to mimic characteristics of LiF. Each target atom has one electron localized about it. The forces between all particles are calculated at each step of the simulation and the trajectory of every particle is followed. Up to 400 target atoms are used in this work. Details of the capture process, and the energy deposition to the surface are presented.
